About the founder

Justin McElhattan has spent 30 years in the environmental, health, and safety (EHS) field. He spent 25 years at Industrial Scientific Corporation in various roles, becoming CEO in 2010. He led the sale of the business to Fortive Corporation (NYSE: FTV) in 2017, and subsequently built and ran the environmental, health, and safety business group for Fortive. While at Fortive, he led a number of acquisitions and strategic investments, including Intelex, a leading EHS SaaS platform, SAFER Technologies, ehsAI, and Datamaran.

Along with his wife Shirley, Justin founded Nicely Ridge Foundation in 2018. Nicely Ridge is dedicated to building prosperous communities by reinforcing the joy and dignity of work, supporting healthy families, and enabling more de-digitized spare time. Justin also serves on the boards of the Pittsburgh Technology Council, and Ligonier Camp and Conference Center.

Justin has a B.S. of Environmental Resource Management from Penn State and is a 2006 MBA graduate of Carnegie Mellon’s Tepper School of Business, where he serves on the business board of advisors.
